December is just around the corner and with its arrival comes snow and all things cool and frosty. Not to mention the holiday season. While Christmas may be the overriding theme this month, there are a lot of other great things to do Montreal. We’ve put together a few fun ideas if you’re visiting us this month. And don’t forget, winter is on its way; so make sure you bring warm clothes, coats and boots!

Salon des métiers d’art

Takes place December 5th to 21st, 2014. Want to see what our Quebec artisans have been up to? This is perfect then! From your Montreal hotel suite, just head on over to West Exhibition Hall at Place Bonaventure in downtown Montreal. What you’ll find: tons of unique and exquisite “Made in Quebec” creations. From artwork to functional items, there are many beautiful things to discover. If you’re staying in a downtown Montreal hotel suite, this is easily accessible either by walking or on the Orange line of the Metro.


Held from December 10th 2014 to February 1st 2015. As part of Montreal’s inclusion in UNESCO’s City of Design, this high-tech multimedia public art exhibition takes place this year in Quartiers des Spectacles. This year being its 5th year, we’re expecting more of the amazing and intriguing exhibitions displayed in years past. Fresh this year are a variety of creative designers, artists, architects and visionaries. What can you expect? A whole lot of incredible, interactive elements to delight your senses. Another easy option if you’re staying in a hotel suite downtown Montreal. Make sure you bring warm clothes, coats and boots!

Cirque du Soleil’s The 30th Anniversary CONCERT.”

From December 13th to the 28th, tickets start at $40.  Set in the historical and magnificent Saint Jean Baptiste Church in Montreal, this 75-minute concert is a unique and creative tribute to the music of the Cirque du Soleil over the past 30 years. With a choir of 70 people, 8 soloists and 28 musicians, your musical appetite is sure to be satisfied!

A Railway Christmas

If you’re visiting with young ones ages 3 through 7 (or if you’re a train enthusiast), head to the south shore to visit the Exporail exhibition’s “Railway Christmas,” taking place from November 24th to the 22nd of December. Kids can discover the story of a very special mail car that carries mail to Santa’s Elves, decorate a Christmas ornament, and mail a letter to Santa. Plus, the whole exhibition is decorated in holiday-themed style. Located at 110 Saint-Pierre Street in Saint-Constant, QC.

Science Centre & IMAX Theatre

Perfect if you’re staying at a downtown Montreal hotel suite, the Science Centre is just a short distance away. From the incredible permanent and temporary exhibitions, the Insectarium and Biodome, to the truly breathtaking Planetarium; you’ll find interesting and entertaining activities for everyone. Plus, if it’s a chilly winter day, you may enjoy getting out of the cold for one of IMAX’s spectacular films. Playing in November/December are three 3D films: Jerusalem, Madagascar and Galapagos.
